Bill Brown
Chief Executive Officer
William “Bill” Brown is chief executive officer of 3M, a $25 billion materials science and manufacturing company that innovates and delivers solutions for global challenges. He is the former Chair of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of L3Harris Technologies, a global innovator in aerospace and defense technology solutions, where he served as chief executive officer and chair, and then executive chair from June 2019 to June 2022. Brown previously served as chair, president, and chief executive officer of Harris Corporation prior to its merger with L3 Technologies in 2019. He joined Harris Corporation in November 2011 as president and chief executive officer. Prior to Harris Corporation, Brown spent 14 years at United Technologies Corporation (UTC) serving in a variety of leadership roles.
Brown holds bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from Villanova University, as well as an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is the former Chair of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) and a Board director of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company).
John Banovetz
Executive Vice President, Chief Technology Officer and Environmental Responsibility
Dr. John Banovetz is executive vice president, chief technology officer and environmental responsibility for 3M, where he leads 3M’s research and development efforts, emerging growth venture investments, and environmental responsibility efforts.
Banovetz joined 3M in 1995 as a research chemist in the Corporate R&D organization. In 2003, he joined McKinsey & Company, and in 2007 rejoined 3M to oversee corporate strategic initiatives. Following that role, he served as global business director for 3M’s Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division, led 3M’s Corporate Research Lab, and became managing director of 3M’s D-A-CH region, which represents the company’s combined operations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He was appointed 3M’s chief technology officer and senior vice president of research and development in 2017, with environmental responsibility added to his role a few years later.
Banovetz has a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Stanford University, and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Hamline University.
Wendy Bauer
Group President, Transportation & Electronics
Wendy Bauer leads 3M’s Transportation and Electronics Business Group, which includes the company’s advanced materials, automotive & aerospace, commercial branding, display materials & systems, electronics materials solutions, and transportation divisions.
Bauer previously served as Vice President & General Manager, Automotive & Manufacturing at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where she led the development and execution of AWS’s business, technology, partnering and go-to-market strategy for the global automotive and manufacturing organization. Wendy also led Worldwide Manufacturing & Resources Industry Business Strategy and was General Manager, U.S. Industry, at Microsoft prior to joining AWS. She has also spent more than 20 years in a variety of positions across the global automotive industry, including both automotive OEM and Tier-1 supplier companies such as Aptiv/Delphi, Eaton Corporation, DENSO and General Motors.
Bauer holds an MBA from Kelley School of Business – Indiana University, a master’s degree in engineering from Purdue University, and bachelor’s degrees in both electrical engineering and mechanical engineering from Kettering University.
Karina Chavez
Group President, Consumer
Karina Chavez serves as Group President of 3M’s Consumer Business and oversees Integrated Business Operations. In this role, she manages the Consumer Business Group, which includes some of 3M's well-known brands, and is responsible for the Integrated Business Operations for all businesses at 3M. Her business role focuses on serving consumers with products in construction and home improvement, stationery and office supplies, home and auto care, and consumer health care.
Chavez's career with 3M started in 2008 as a marketing and public affairs manager for 3M Mexico. Her career path has included various roles with increasing responsibility in the United States, Asia, and Latin America. Her experience includes positions such as managing director for 3M Indonesia and global business director for the home improvement business, as well as senior vice president for customer operations.
In November 2021, Chavez took on the role of senior vice president and chief strategy officer, where she managed strategy, brand, design, sponsorships and events, and communications. She was appointed Group President of the Consumer Business Group in May 2023 and added Integrated Business Operations to her responsibilities in June 2023.
Prior to joining 3M, Chavez worked as a business leader and consultant for companies in Mexico and Europe. She holds a B.A. in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de Mexico, a Master's in economics for development from Oxford University, and an MBA from the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
Torie Clarke
Executive Vice President, Chief Public Affairs Officer
Torie Clarke joined 3M in December 2023 as executive vice president and chief Public Affairs officer, collectively leading the Government Affairs, Brand and Communications, Design, Sponsorships, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability teams.
Prior to 3M, Clarke served as the head of Global Corporate Affairs at SAP and Senior Advisor for Communications and Government Relations at Comcast Corporation, as well as working as an independent communications and crisis management consultant. Clarke also previously worked as chief spokesperson for the Pentagon on 9/11 and the beginning of the Iraq war, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, and as a presidential re-election campaign Press Secretary. She has unique expertise and depth of experience in both the public and private sectors, and is the author of Lipstick on a Pig: Winning In the No-Spin Era by Someone Who Knows the Game and A Survivor’s Guide to Washington.
Clarke serves on the board of The Rumsfeld Foundation and on the 3M Open Board. She holds a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University and is finishing her master’s degree in Social Work from the Catholic University of America.
Zoe Dickson
Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer
As executive vice president and chief human resources officer, Zoe Dickson advances 3M’s transformative agenda for people and culture. Dickson leads 3M’s HR Operations and Services, HR Risk Management, Total Rewards, Talent & Diversity, HR Strategy & Solutions, and associated HR support to the business group and functional teams.
Dickson joined 3M in 1998 and has held roles of increasing responsibility in human resources across the company’s businesses and geographic areas. Prior to her current role, she served as senior vice president of talent, learning and insights.
Dickson is a chartered member of Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. She earned her degree in manufacturing engineering from Brunel University London, and diploma in personnel management from Thames Valley University (now the University of West London).
Peter Gibbons
Group President, Enterprise Supply Chain
Peter Gibbons leads all aspects of internal and external manufacturing, logistics, planning, procurement, engineering, manufacturing technology and supply chain strategy as Group President, Enterprise Supply Chain.
Gibbons joined 3M in November 2021 as group president of Enterprise Supply Chain. Previously, he served as chief executive officer of TireHub, a last mile tire distributor and joint venture between Bridgestone and Goodyear which he launched and ran successfully. Before that he held senior-level executive positions at Mattel, Starbucks, and ICI Paints.
Gibbons serves on the board of the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Edinburgh and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Strathclyde Business School.
Chris Goralski
Group President, Safety & Industrial
Chris Goralski is group president of 3M’s Safety and Industrial Business Group, which includes personal safety, adhesives and tapes, abrasives, industrial specialties, electrical markets, automotive aftermarket, and roofing granules.
Goralski previously led 3M’s Industrial Adhesives and Tapes business, responsible for setting strategy and driving growth in one of 3M’s largest global businesses. He also served as vice president of environmental stewardship, vice president of ERP deployment, and as director of corporate strategy.
He began his 3M career in 2005 in strategic business development. Before 3M, Goralski held research, product development and leadership positions at Syngas Technology, LLC, The Ford Motor Company, and The Dow Chemical Company.
Goralski holds a BSE degree in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan, as well as a PhD in chemical engineering and an MBA with an emphasis in strategic management from the University of Minnesota.
Anurag Maheshwari
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Anurag Maheshwari is 3M’s Chief Financial Officer, where he leads the company’s global finance organization, including business finance, accounting, treasury, financial planning and analysis, tax, and investor relations, in addition to transformation, country governance, and 3M's global service centers.
Maheshwari previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Otis Worldwide Corporation (Otis), a global leader in the manufacture, installation, and servicing of elevators and escalators. Prior to joining Otis, Maheshwari served as Vice President, Investor Relations, at Harris Corporation and then L3Harris from January 2017 to February 2020, leading the company's interaction with the investor community, while driving strategic investment planning and capital deployment.
Maheshwari began his career as a consultant before taking on several executive-level roles of increasing responsibility in strategy, business leadership, private equity, and finance at United Technologies and Affinity Equity Partners. Maheshwari holds a master's degree in finance from the Asian Institute of Management and a bachelor's degree in economics from Bombay University.
Mark Murphy
Executive Vice President, Chief Information and Digital Officer
Mark Murphy is the Chief Information and Digital Officer for 3M, where he leads the company's digital transformation efforts, including all aspects of information technology, enterprise cybersecurity, and digital initiatives encompassing data and AI. He has more than two decades of experience in developing, leading, and transforming global businesses and technology organizations across multiple industries, including industrials, consumer goods, life sciences, retail, and financial services.
Before joining 3M, he served as the Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Abbott Laboratories, where he had global responsibility for information technology, including cybersecurity, analytics, and digital initiatives. During his tenure at Abbott, Murphy served on the board of Abbott India Limited, a publicly listed company and a subsidiary of Abbott Laboratories.
Previously, Murphy held roles of increasing responsibility over 13 years at St. Jude Medical Inc. This culminated in his appointment as Chief Information Officer in 2013, where he led the company's SAP transformation and worldwide information technology services.
Murphy is a champion of efforts around health and wellness and career success for underserved young adults through careers in the technology field. He currently serves on the board of MnTech and has formerly served on the board of the Fairview Hospital Foundation and as a Sponsor for the AHA Twin Cities Heartwalk. He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University and an M.B.A. from Indiana University.
Kevin Rhodes
Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Affairs Officer and Secretary
Kevin Rhodes is Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Affairs Officer and Secretary, overseeing legal, compliance, government affairs and global security matters for 3M. He leads a global Legal Affairs team that helps guide business opportunities, address enterprise risks, protect intellectual property, shape policy, and strengthen compliance and security.
Rhodes has spent more than 20 years with 3M, most recently as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, including leading ongoing efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic to combat fraud, counterfeiting, and price gouging of N95 respirators. He previously led the company’s litigation function, and served for more than ten years as chief intellectual property counsel.
Rhodes is a registered patent attorney and has served as President of the Intellectual Property Owner’s Association and the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel, as well as Chair of the Steering Committee of the Coalition for 21st Century Patent Reform. Prior to joining 3M in 2001, Rhodes was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Northwestern University; and his B.A. from Grinnell College.
Michael F. Roman
Executive Chairman
Mike Roman is executive chairman of 3M’s Board of Directors. Mike became chairman of the board in May 2019.
He served as chief executive officer of 3M, a science and manufacturing company that improves lives around the world, from 2018 to 2024. He previously served as 3M’s chief operating officer, led 3M’s largest business group and was chief strategist. Throughout Mike’s career, he lived and led businesses around the world, including the United States, Europe and Asia. He joined 3M in 1988 as a senior design engineer.
Mike holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota. He serves on the board of Abbott Laboratories and on the University of Minnesota Foundation Board of Trustees.
