New releases and features will be showcased at Book Expo America
ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
As digital offerings grow in popularity for libraries, patrons need
easy-to-use tools that help them take advantage of the world of eBooks.
3M Library Systems has been leading the way in creating these tools
since the launch of the 3M Cloud Library, and at Book Expo America
(BEA), May 27-29 at the Javits Center in New York City, it will showcase
the latest improvement to the system—a redesigned web patron that makes
it simpler for users to browse their library’s 3M Cloud Library
collection. For librarians, 3M added the ability to reclassify the age
range for books.

A key enhancement in the purchasing tool is the ability to change a
book’s age range. If a librarian sees a book in an inappropriate age
range, for example a Young Adult book appearing in the Children’s age
range, they can now reclassify the book so it will be the right age
range.
“This is a feature that our libraries are very excited about and
supports our mission of providing libraries the tools to customize their
eBook platform to meet the needs of their community,” said Tom Mercer,
Marketing Manager of the 3M Cloud Library.
At the 3M Library Systems booth, DZ2056, BEA attendees can see a
demonstration of the new web patron updates, which help the platform
match the speed and performance of the 3M Cloud Library app.1
While the app allows users to read eBooks, the web patron lets them
preview their library’s eBook collection, check out books and stream
audio while online. Newly enhanced personalization options also give
users the ability to manage their accounts, receive email notifications
and customize favorite content categories.
“The redesigned web patron provide readers a powerful tool for browsing
and discovering their library’s digital collection before downloading
the 3M Cloud Library app,” said Matt Tempelis, Global Business Manager,
3M Library Systems.
The enhancements come after a banner year for the 3M Cloud Library, in
which checkouts grew 121 percent and 95 percent of customers renewed
their contracts.
“We plan to maintain our significant investments in new ways to help
libraries share the world of eBooks with their patrons,” said Tempelis.
