3M Scotchkote Pipe Renewal Liner 2400 Authorized Applicators Can Line
Water Pipes in as Little as One Day
ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
With potable water main pipe continuing to age, technologies for quick,
non-disruptive repairs will not only speed repairs but also help keep
costs down.
Scotchkote Liner 2400 helps ensure water pipes can be cleaned, lined and
returned to service much quicker and with less disruption than pipe
replacement. Further, cleaning certain types of pipes and then lining
them with Scotchkote Liner 2400 can help preserve water quality and
improve flow, in addition to providing structural enhancements that help
extend the life of existing pipes.
To ensure consistency in product application procedures and product
performance, Scotchkote liner 2400 is applied only by authorized
applicators.
In 2014, 3M authorized EMC2 as the first U.S.-based rig manufacturer to
make equipment used by Authorized Applicators to apply Scotchkote Liner
2400. They join Schur Ltd, located near Manchester, United Kingdom, and
Malley Industries in New Brunswick, Canada.
“Scotchkote Liner 2400 is a trenchless solution for lining existing
potable water pipes on site. Its quick cure rate means water pipes can
be returned to service much faster, but that also requires specifically
designed equipment,” said Fred Schiller, 3M Infrastructure business
director. “EMC2 brings 35 years of experience designing and
manufacturing meter-mix dispensing systems around the world. We are
proud to work with them to renew this vital infrastructure.”
Ken Dargatz, president of EMC2, stated “Scotchkote Pipe Liner 2400 is an
outstanding solution for the trenchless pipe repair challenge. EMC2 has
witnessed the exceptional technical talent, innovative culture and
commitment that 3M has directed toward this activity and we feel
privileged to have the opportunity to support them as they implement
this technology worldwide.”
3M Scotchkote Pipe Renewal Liner 2400 has been developed for the
rehabilitation of potable water pipe infrastructure to help extend
service life, reduce leaks, and preserve water quality by helping
prevent the future build-up of tuberculation that can lead to color,
taste, and odor issues. It is a polyurea-based formulation that can help
prevent corrosion and tuberculation and provide structural enhancement
in potable water pipes. Scotchkote Liner 2400 can be inspected by closed
circuit television (CCTV) in as little as 10 minutes and be fully cured
in 60 minutes.
To date, Scotchkote Liner 2400 has been applied in ferrous,
cement-mortar lined and asbestos cement pipes around the world,
including the U.S., U.K., Canada, Russia, Mexico, Australia, and
Malaysia.
